Business Knowledge: …. A Global Strategy
- The translation of missions, objectives and goals are frequently
not communicated clearly from the boardroom to project levels in the
organization. The structure for the translation is missing.
- A key point is that all business operatives must have access to
the same goal-related information.
| Mission Statements |
Broad ongoing enduring philosophy and
direction:
Examples:
- To maintain the highest possible worldwide market share.
- To keep leadership in the domestic auto industry
- To remain a prime contractor for U.S. military
|
| Objective Statements |
Perceived changes of state to
accomplish missions:
Examples:
- To create a highly technical trained work force
- To achieve a high national financial rating
- To become a leader in industrial chemical production
|
| Goal Statements |
Specific planned targets as
quantifiable values and time periods to meet objectives:
Examples:
- To increase the technical staff by 20% in two years
- To establish a west coast facility this quarter
- To acquire an existing product research organization in six
months
|
Measurement:
Missions, Objectives, and Goals must all eventually be related to
show their effect on the business units. Consequently, measurements are
the base upon which all company knowledge and information must focus.
